Product Price (2026-10-25) What is in the box
EGO Power+ SNT2406, 24-inch two-stage $1,699 Two 10Ah packs, 1,120 Wh, 24-inch cut [2]
EGO Power+ SNT2405, 24-inch two-stage $1,649 Two 7.5Ah packs, 840 Wh, same machine [1][5]
Toro Power Max e24 39925 $1,549 One 10Ah pack, 540 Wh, three battery ports [7][8]

The big picture:

Two purchases are being sold as one.

The blower parts are the same across the EGO kits, so the battery is a separate product with its own price tag, and the maker’s top capacity claim moves with whichever box you buy. EGO states the exact same 24-inch machine clears up to an 18-car driveway on the smaller packs and 24 cars on the larger ones [1][3][4].

What strikes me here is how the reviewer who took both boxes apart put it: “The performance and features are the same, with the only difference being run time” [5]. That tells a buyer energy is the only thing left to pay for.

By the numbers

  • 46.7 Wh — one car-driveway: 840 Wh (2 × 56 Volts (V) × 7.5 Ah) divided by 18 cars is 46.7, and 1,120 Wh (2 × 56 V × 10 Ah) divided by 24 cars matches it exactly [1][2].
  • $0.18 — the upgrade watt-hour: 18 cents per Wh is what the step between the two EGO kits costs, measured as $50 over 280 Wh [1][2].
  • $0.98 — the spare watt-hour: the same energy bought later as a pack costs $0.98 per Wh, 5.5 times the upgrade, because one 560 Wh pack sells for $549.99 [2][9].
  • $2.87 — the Toro watt-hour: 540 Wh in the Toro box works out to $2.87 per Wh, next to $1.52 for the larger EGO kit and $1.96 for the smaller one [1][2][7][8].
Machine Energy in the box Claimed capacity Ports Weight
EGO SNT2406 1,120 Wh 24-car driveway at 8 in [2] 2 143.3 lb tool only [2]
EGO SNT2405 840 Wh 18-car driveway at 8 in [1] 2 143.3 lb tool only [2]
Toro Power Max e24 540 Wh 20 car spaces at up to 10 in [8] 3 [8] 169 lb [8]

What I’d watch:

I’ve been watching how outside testing pushes back against these claims. Three results matter more than the sales sheet.

  • Throw distance: EGO lists a top throw of 50 feet [3]. One tester saw wet sawdust travel just over 30 feet, and he noted that heavy wet material never throws as far as dry snow [5].
  • Throughput: the same test cleared 22 cubic feet, or 462 pounds of wet sawdust, in about four minutes [5]. That is the only firm volume figure this desk could verify for the group, and it beats any car count for usefulness.
  • Power draw: Toro’s 60 minutes of run time on 540 Wh works out to a 540-watt average draw, while EGO’s claimed 25 minutes on 840 Wh points to 2,016 watts [6][8]. If both figures describe the same job, the EGO is pulling about 3.7 times the power; if they do not, neither number says how much snow either machine moves. No page says which.
  • Powder caveat: Good Housekeeping notes the EGO capacity claim held up only in light, dry powder [6]. A wet February storm is the case the number does not cover.

The catch

The Toro machine is not cheaper by accident.

It clears up to 20 car spaces in up to 10 inches of snow on the included pack [8]. My read: Toro writes its claim at a deeper snow than EGO, making the two car counts impossible to rank without assuming the makers mean the same car. EGO’s own unit converts once to about 1,560 square feet at 18 cars [6], and nothing published converts Toro’s spaces at all. Rank the energy in the box instead of the parking spaces.

The price gap buys flexible use, since Toro includes three battery ports instead of two and its listed spare is a 7.5Ah pack at $509.29 [8][10]. A second battery extends a job rather than ending it. Toro also carries 25.7 more pounds than the EGO, which you will feel on a steep driveway [2][8].

The model number matters as much as the pack. EGO’s newer 24-inch kit, the SNT2425, lists at $1,749 for the same 7.5Ah tier that the SNT2405 sells at $1,649 [1][12]. That premium is a series name, not capacity.

EGO covers the tool for five years and the packs for three, while Toro covers its machine for three [3][8]. That warranty gap is worth reading before the price tag.

Verdict

Buy the EGO Power+ SNT2406 at $1,699 if you need the packs and the machine, because the 10Ah box offers the cheapest energy in the class [2][4]. Buy the Toro Power Max e24 at $1,549 instead if you already own Toro 60V packs or want three ports and local dealer service, and accept the smallest battery of the three [7][8].

Skip both kits if EGO packs are already in your garage, since the bare tool costs $939 [11]. Before the first storm, run your own driveway size and typical snow depth through the true cost of ownership calculator, and read the rest of the outdoor power and snow coverage.

What we did not test

This review is built from manufacturer and authorized-dealer price pages, one independent measured test of the EGO SNT2406 in wet sawdust, and a magazine review that restates the maker’s capacity claim alongside the maker’s own run-time figure. The units were not handled here, no snow was cleared, and every run time, throw distance, capacity and price belongs to the maker, the dealer or the tester named beside it in the sources.

At a glance

  • The Big Shift: the 24-inch battery two-stage is now one machine sold in several battery boxes, so the capacity claim tracks the power source rather than the hardware [1][3][4].
  • Why It Matters: a $50 step between EGO kits buys 280 Wh, while buying that energy later as a spare pack costs $549.99 [2][9].
  • What I’d Watch: whether the makers ever publish the square footage of a “car space,” because until they do, the top capacity of every machine here is unfalsifiable.
  • Measured throw: outside testing reached just over 30 feet against a 50-foot claim [5].
  • Snow depth: Toro writes its claim at 10 inches, EGO at 8, which makes the car counts impossible to match up [2][8].
  • The Catch: prices are dated 2026-10-25, dealer stock changes, and none of these units were handled or run in snow for this review.
